Vicky Brannigan by Barry McCall Photographer

World Backup Day with Drobo

Backing up my imagery has always been important for me. However, it was when I started working on my 20 year retrospective PHO20GRAPHY that it really hit home. I was working with thousands of images. We spent months scanning my older photographic prints, and about a year shooting new digital imagery; all this had to be really securely backed up and well organised. Our Drobos were an invaluable part of the whole book production process. I have a lot of images that mean something special to me. However, this is the image that I would consider to be the turning point in my career. It was the first time that I felt my vision had been fully realised and that anything was achievable. That was 28 years ago. Image of Vicky Brannigan at Morgan the Agency, make-up by Fiona Connon, hair James Mooney and styling by Nadia Pfeiffer.

Chanel beauty shot by Barry McCall Photographer

Chanel

Taking some time out at the end of a busy week to back up our imagery on our Drobo 5D3, and we're having a bit of fun along the way reviewing our image archives. This was one of our favourite beauty shots from 2017 for Chanel, with make-up by Christine Lucignano.

Tesla

Congratulations to Elon Musk on his latest achievement "The Falcon Heavy".  As I sit here writing this blog post a Starman sitting in a tin can is navigating the heavens. The Tesla Roadster – with the message “Don’t panic!” stamped on the dashboard and David Bowie playing on the speakers - moving at 11km per second on a 400 million mile journey. Its projected path will bring it close to Mars. There is a tiny chance it might crash into the planet. If it stays on course, it will instead drift through space, potentially for millions of years. I had great fun directing a test advert for Tesla last year, what an amazing car!!!

Nadine Coyle for TK Maxx

We had the great pleasure of having Nadine Coyle in studio for this TK Maxx shoot popping with colour. The Give Up Clothes for Good campaign is helping to raise funds for Enable Ireland.  www.enableireland.ie/get-involved/campaigns

Hozier and Saoirse – Cherry Wine

Great to see Hozier and Saoirse teaming up for a worthy cause, and we were delighted to help out. All proceeds made from the sale of Hozier's single 'Cherry Wine' on iTunes will be going directly to international domestic abuse charity organisations. Purchase a great single, with proceeds going to a cause in much need. What's not to like? Check out our image on the single cover artwork, and some of the promo imagery we did for the video, due to be released this Sunday

Rebellion on RTE

Did you watch Rebellion last night? We were delighted to have the opportunity to photograph the leading cast for the key ad shot, with design concept by LCD London. If you missed the first episode, don't forget to catch it on RTE Player  so you're up to date before next week's episode. Looking forward to it!
