It was great to shoot the new Aer Lingus uniforms at the end of 2019. The new uniforms now project a clean and contemporary look by Louise Kennedy. I have worked with Louise for years, so it was a perfect match. A real honour to be working together on something as historic. Aer Lingus hadn’t changed their uniforms since 1998 and as Aer Lingus themselves states, “The new-look uniform is the culmination of a two-year project between Aer Lingus and Louise Kennedy involving extensive staff engagement as well as external research in Dublin, London, New York and Paris”.

What better place to shoot the new 25 redesigned garments, than New York City. In all, 25 new garments have been designed. Cabin crew and ground staff have a greater variety of styles to choose from.

It was a pleasure to have real life Aer Lingus cabin crew modelling the new uniforms in ‘Kenmare Green’ and ‘Midnight’ navy through the streets of New York, strutting in front of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo and standing proud on a rooftop overlooking the city.

All of this couldn’t have been done without the stellar team involved. From Louise Kennedy’s team, including Aoife Conroy and Catherine McEvoy, to our extremely talented stylist Catherine Condell. Meanwhile we had our Irish born, New York residing pals Julianna Grogan on makeup and James Mooney on hair.

For large productions such as this, there is no one better than Annee Elliot, who is always one step ahead.

A good assistant and digi tech is equally an asset, luckily Steve Gallagher was on hand for just that.

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Munster and Ireland Ruby player Peter O’Mahony for Marks & Spencer latest menswear collection. Peter took a break from his rigorous rugby training to model M&S’ latest range of casual knits, blazers, suits and more.

Anyone who has met Peter will be able to confirm that he is an absolute professional on and off the pitch, but most importantly he’s good craic. All of these traits truly make him the perfect Brand Ambassador for M&S.

Stylist Catherine Condell, who we have worked with on countless numbers of shoots was on hand during the shoot to make sure the tailoring was perfect. Makeup artist Ailbhe Lynch made sure Peter looked his best in between outfit changes. Not a hair was out of place.

Peter recently mentioned in an interview that his favourite outfit is black tie. He says it “just takes all the hassle out of trying to put something together”. Luckily for him, our stylist had him suited and booted with one in no time.

Our trusty retoucher Dylan Madden looked after post-production from the shoot, giving the shots the final tweaks.

THE GLOSS Magazine October Issue editorial shot by Barry McCall.

Its always nice getting out of the studio and into a bit of fresh summer air. That’s exactly what happened during our The Gloss Magazine shoot in Grand Canal Dock in August. 

The brief, ‘Looking the Business’ incorporated modern revamps of classics like “menswear-inspired coats, tartan, graphic prints and great knits”. Including the tagline “Workwear doesn’t have to be a suit to be serious.”. Stylist Catherine Condell pulled this off perfectly. With years of experience behind her, there was no need to worry for a second about the items of clothing on the Gloss shoot.

Brown Sugar Salon were on hand on the day ensuring that our model was looking flawless and camera ready. From the pin straight blonde locks to strong but natural makeup, the look matched the styling perfectly.  

Our model Gerda-Marie Mare looked gorgeous as she strode around the dock, surrounded by high rise office buildings and apartments. 

The shoot moved inside for some part of the day, the crew gliding through the 5-star Marker Hotel. From posing in the hotels lounge to wind swept on the roof top bar, with a view over all of Dublin 2.

Let me just say, there was nothing boring about this day! We had the incredible Irish fashion stylist Catherine Condell pulling pieces from luxury designers such as Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang and Stella McCartney. Catherine has a meticulous eye for details and is always ready to jump up when something slips out of place or can look even better with one tweak.

Leonard Daly, who is no stranger to Bond St Studios worked his magic on makeup, creating an effortlessly cool glam on our model Jess Gold. While David Cashman created a relaxed stylish up-do that lasted perfectly through out the day. All above made our model Jess Gold look perfectly boohoo-high fashion on the day of the editorial for Image Magazine.
